Local Project is pleased to have the works of Derek Brueckner starting this Saturday August 4th through the 19th at our gallery space in NY. Exhibiting his new paintings and video referenced from performances in karaoke booths, Derek’s exhibition invites the public to have the opportunity to explore their alter egos as super hero and perform karaoke. Masks and some accessories will be available for audience participation at opening, or get creative and bring your own!

Derek Brueckner is recognized internationally for working with the figure in performance contexts at gallery and performance spaces in Canada, US and Europe.
He has been making paintings from his own performance images for over a decade and is very excited to present new paintings as part of his first New York City solo exhibition at Local Project.
Brueckner is a visual artist who works and teaches in Winnipeg, Canada splitting his time between Canada and New York City and we are very happy to have him and his collaborators, Ian Mozdzen, Miss Lyndsay Ladobruk from Winnipeg and Dongsuk Lee (aka: DS LEE) form Korea with other local special guests.

Exhibition Dates: Saturday August 4 to Sunday August 19, 2012
Gallery Hours: 12–6 PM, Thursday through Monday and by appointment at derekbrueckner@gmail.com
