A GROWING STORAGE PROBLEM
Individual Exhibition by J McDonald
Opening Reception
September 8, 6-8pm

Through Sept 30.

As an NYC based sculptor working on a large scale, J McDonald has a growing storage problem.  But he is not alone. Our human empire struggles to contain the refuse of its own making – trash in landfills, carbon in forests, imminent collapse and vast destruction in petty distraction.  No matter how efficiently designed or technologically advanced, our storage containers will not be sufficient, and things will overflow.  Through absurdity and abstraction, McDonald’s earth and metal sculptures explore the current state of our anthropocentric dystopia.  Also on view will be a film of his 2014 performance ‘The Earth’s Delegation to the United Nations’, during which he pulled a 500 pound cave from his studio in Red Hook, Brooklyn to Colombus Circle to join the People’s Climate March.
