Printmaking exhibition

The action of print an image communicates ideas, is the mark of an artist’s voice. Printmaking is a visual language form, that carries a craft tradition that still relevant in the contemporary world.

Deep-Breath is an open call for artists working on printmaking in all its forms. From intaglio, xylography, lino-cut to screen printing and beyond. The goal is to celebrate printing, the serial reproduction of an image and the relevance of printmaking as a form of expression.

Specifications:

All printmaking techniques will be accepted, but we will giving priority to works on paper, limited edition, short run and mono-print works.

This is a printmaking exhibition, digital prints will not be accepted. In the near future we will organize a digital-print exhibition.

Open to all artist and print-makers based in New York, we can not cover cost of shipping or transportation of the artwork.

Local Project curatorial committee will select artwork based on quality, accessibility and relation to printmaking.

There is a hanging fee of $25 per selected artists, to cover art installation and opening costs.

Selected pieces must be framed or ready to hang.

Submission deadline EXTENDED:  July 6

Selected artists will be notified: July 9th

Non selected artists interested to have  one on one portfolio review please send an email request.

Opening: Thursday July 16th, 6:00pm-9:00pm

Drop off pieces: Friday July 10th, 2-7pm, Saturday July 11th, 12-7pm

Show runs from: June 16th – August 9th

Submission:

To submit artwork, please send the following files by email in a ZIP folder to

info@localproject.org

– up to 5 JPG imagines of recent prints, including images of the work you would be interested to show ( maximum 1000px, 72 dpi, name file: 01.YOURNAME.title.jpg)

– image list ( word doc) including: name, title, dimensions, technique, edition number, year, number of pieces you have available from the edition or specify if is a mono-print.

– An small paragraph about printmaking philosophy (word doc)

– Artist Resume (Word doc)

Uncompleted submissions will not be review it.
