For about a year and a half Carla Torres created one or two napkin drawings per day. Each napkin bears witness to the small moments she experienced throughout those idle but ultimately enriching subway rides from her home in Queens to her job in Chelsea using a sharpie marker she would draw what held her attention or sparked her imagination, people, stains on the floor, banners, Carla Torres was born and raised in Quito – Ecuador where she studied Graphic Design at the School of Visual Arts, after she received her mayor she moved to Barcelona-Spain to continue her studies in Art and Illustration at La Escola Sant Cougat del Valles. She moved to New York in 2006 where she has exhibited her work in several venues around the city and taught art workshops at the Queens Museum of Art. Currently She is working in a children’s book about immigration to New York .
