What’s Up with LIC? 09/23/17

Saturday September 23 12:30pm

Join us in for an interactive and creative exploration of Long Island City’s hyper-development and what it means for the future of our homes, communities, artist studios, and small businesses—not just in LIC, but across Queens. As Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer once said, “Wherever Long Island City goes, NYC will follow.”

This interactive quest is part oral history and part scavenger hunt. You’ll walk the neighborhood in small teams, meeting locals, activists, and artists along the way who live and work in the neighborhood. We will recollect at the end to create art, share observations and discuss tangible action steps we can take to protect our beloved borough.

• Bring friends, or come as an individual and meet new friends.
• Wear comfortable shoes. Participants will walk 60-90 minutes.
• Light refreshments will be provided at the end.
• No fee to participate. Just bring your curiosity and creativity.

This event is brought to you by the Queens Anti-Gentrification Project in collaboration with Long Island City-based artist Priscilla Stadler, and is part of the 2017 Queens Arts Intervention.
