will strattonLocal Project is happy to be hosting the Melodica Showcase for Will this Sat., April 6th from 7pm -10pm.

The Melodica Acoustic Music Festival is about connecting musicians to other musicians in their hometowns and to those throughout the world. We have been fortunate in New York City to have met and enjoyed highly respected singer-songwriters and bands at our festivals.

The majority of our artists continue to build their careers and have included other Melodica artists in their shows, on their albums, and have toured side by side. The main goal of the festival is to build a music community that is nurturing and non-exclusive. Everyone helps everyone and the pay-off has been seen through the growth many of our artists.

However, the good does come with the bad. One of our favorite artists, Will Stratton, a singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso has been battling cancer since the fall of 2012. After multiple surgeries and months of treatment, Will is cancer free and is on the upswing to regain his health and former strength. During this time, he has been living with his parents in Seattle and the New York music scene has missed him. With towering medical bills and being out of work for months, the Brooklyn music community wants to help out financially and show Will how much we love him and his music. He is missed in New York City and we anxiously wait for his return.

On April 6, a group of musicians that have been involved with Melodica in NYC have organized a show of musicians who are close to Will, have played music with him, that he respects and those that respect him. Featuring Laura Dunn, Kendy Gable, Bird Courage, ElRayman, Will Stratton, Trevor Wilson Vocal Ensmble, and Wilder Maker.

Come and join us at Local Project in Long Island City Queens, for an evening of beautiful acoustic music in a stunning gallery space.
